What is collected, and why

Plain language, and specific where it matters. If anything here is unclear, ask and I’ll make it clearer.

I wrote this page to say plainly what the site does today. It hasn’t been checked by a qualified adviser yet, so if anything here is unclear, or seems to miss something, write to me and I’ll put it right.

The short version

This site collects very little. You can read everything without an account, there are no ads, and nothing follows you around other sites. The personal information I hold comes from things you choose to do: signing up, joining the Hourside waitlist, or emailing me.

Sign-ups aren’t switched on yet, so for now the forms don’t store anything. The sections below describe how they’ll work once they are.

If you sign up for the Day Reset

When you sign up, I store your email address, which form you used, where you came from (for example, a link in an Instagram post), the exact wording you agreed to with the date, and when you first open the kit. I use these to send you what you asked for, and to see which posts and pages actually help people.

You see the Day Reset straight away, and I email you a copy with a link to confirm. If you confirm, you get one email a week. If you don’t, you won’t get the weekly email.

Straight after signing up, there’s one optional question about what usually blows up your day. If you answer it, I store your answer with your address. It helps me decide what to write about.

  • I only email you because you asked me to. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe.
  • To stop one connection signing up lots of addresses at once, I also store a coded version of your IP address, not the address itself. It’s used for that and nothing else.

If you join the Hourside waitlist

The waitlist asks for your email address and four answers: which describes you, how big your team is, what usually blows up your day, and whether you’d take a founding place. I store them so I can invite people to the pilot and decide what to build first.

Joining also sends you the Day Reset, with the same link to confirm the weekly email. You only get the weekly email if you confirm it.

Cookies and your device

Nothing here follows you around other sites, and nothing is used for advertising. The site keeps a few small things on your device, each so that a feature you’re using works:

  • A cookie set when you sign up (sa_kit), so your Day Reset kit opens in this browser. It expires after 24 hours.
  • A cookie set when you confirm your address (sa_sub), so this browser can open your kit again. It lasts a year.
  • A cookie set when you confirm (sa_known), so the site stops asking you to sign up and shows Hourside instead. It lasts a year, and unsubscribing removes it.
  • The steps you tick on the Day Reset and the framework pages, and your choice if you turn motion off. These stay in your browser’s storage and never leave your device.
  • Straight after signing up, a signed reference kept for that tab only, so your answer to the optional question is linked to your sign-up. It’s gone when you close the tab.

Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes all of them.

Analytics

None run on this site. Nothing counts your visits or what you click. If I switch analytics on, this section will say so and describe them.

If you email me

Emails to ahmed@shibleeahmed.com arrive in my Google Workspace inbox. I use what you write to reply and, if you’re booking the Sprint, to prepare for our call. I keep the conversation while it’s useful to you, and delete it if you ask.

Who else handles it

A few services run parts of the site for me. They handle your information on my behalf, under their own data protection terms.

  • Vercel hosts the site. Like any web host, its servers log basic details of each visit, such as your IP address and browser, to keep the site running and secure.
  • Supabase stores the sign-up list and the waitlist.
  • Resend sends the emails.
  • Google Workspace holds my email.

Some of them keep data outside your country, including in the United States. I don’t sell your information, and I don’t share it with anyone for advertising.

How long I keep it

  • While you’re subscribed or on the waitlist, I keep your address and your answers.
  • When you unsubscribe, the emails stop straight away. I keep the address marked as unsubscribed, so it isn’t emailed again by mistake. If you’d like it deleted completely, ask me.
  • Addresses that bounce, or that are reported as spam, are kept the same way, so they’re never emailed again.
  • If you sign up but never confirm, you don’t get the weekly email, and your address stays on the list as unconfirmed until you ask me to delete it.

What you can ask for

You can ask me for a copy of what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. You can also stop the emails at any time, by unsubscribing or by writing to me. Write to ahmed@shibleeahmed.com and I’ll reply within 30 days.

If you’re not happy with how I’ve handled your information, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live.
